Guild Wars guide section will help you. Cant afford anything yet you see
so many things you want? Well one guide we offer is how to do chest runs.
The best character for running in FoW is Warrior/Monk. The high level of
armor u have along with the added ability to self heal out does any other
character combination. Chests in FoW spawn randomly, so it is impossible for
anyone to tell you where they will be and the keys that you will need are
obsidian Keys (1.5k from merchant).. 4 will be enough usually. Note: a good
trick is to buy keys from other players that don’t need them (they only get
750g each from merchant, so picking them up for as little as 800g can be
done Very cheaply) A Basic Skill Set u will need compiles of:
Charge {E}
Sprint
Balanced Stance
Shields Up
Healing Signet
Endure Pain
Healing breeze
Rebirth
Attribs:
Max out your Tactics and get your heal area to about 100hp, use the rest for
strength to increase the sprint time.
Here is an example of Guild Wars Guide GW Guides Information submitted by our community. (Note this information is not valid and should be considered nerfed)
Anyone who has done the quest "The Deserters" in the far, far north of
Beacon's Perch knows that it is a very long irritating walk, and that
there are a few chests near the deserters which have some items in them.
Most people run this quest with a full party and do not realize exactly
what they are missing out on.
These chests, when run solo, USED TO have a tendency to pop (between the
four) 1-2 Rare, 1-2 Purple, and 1-4 Blue weapons EACH RUN. However, as
of the update on Wednesday, June 29 2005, the run has been nerfed but is
still good for its original purpose. Now a run can yeild anything from
one blue, to 2 purples and a few blues. I have yet to see a gold in ten
runs since the update. Anyone with half a brain can realize that farming
these chests would yeild a whole lot of weapon upgrades either for
selling, or just for unlocking on your account. Well damn, that sucks,
because it's such a long walk to those chests, and if you finished the
quest, well crap, you'll never see them again.
Well, I have a solution, and instructions follow.
Requirements:
* Location Requirements:
o Ice Tooth Cave
o Beacon's Perch (to get the quest)
* Quest Requirements:
o You must have the quest "The Deserters" obtained from Master Saberlin
in Beacon's Perch UNFINISHED.
o Before you can get this quest from Master Saberlin, you must first do
the stupid "Feed Joe" quest in which you have to get a juniper steak and
feed it to that dude's devourer outside Beacon's Perch.
* Character Requirements:
First I should mention that I have thought of these builds at the
absolute MINIMAL level (2 or 3) that you could do this run at due to the
fact that most characters in PvE have already completed the above quest,
and thus might create a new character specifically for doing this.
o W/Mo:
The typical warrior monk is good for this build because of their
inherently massive armor bonus and abilities to sprint, as well as the
ability to heal.
o W/R:
Probably the best build for this specific run at low levels as you will
already have lightning reflexes, dodge, and sprint, as well as healing
signet, troll unguent, and the massive armor of a warrior.
o R/W:
Basically the same as the above build, just less armor and the ability
for more expertise and a greater chance of dodging using skills like
escape, lightning reflexes, dodge, and such. Rangers have the widest
range of running skills.
Instructions:
1. Step one:
The first thing you need to do is get your character to Ice Tooth Cave
and Beacon's Perch and get the quest "The Deserters" from Master
Saberlin. If you have already completed the quest with that character,
well tough knittings, because you can't do this. However, it can be done
with an absolute minimum character using the builds mentioned above if
you get so ansy to create a character specifically for this purpose.
Once you do that, all you have to do is get a buddy to run you from
Ascalon to Beacon's Perch. A good runner can do that in about 30
minutes.
2. Step Two:
Now that you have the quest, take your character to Ice Tooth Cave and
walk outside the entrance to this spot:
and have the minotaurs hand your arse back to you on a platter (that
means DIE!) This makes our journey much shorter, because when you are
resurrected, you end up right here:
where you will sometimes be promptly attacked by some Shiverpeak
Warriors. No big deal, just run to the zone directly to the south as
soon as you get resurrected.
3. Step Three:
Now you are so close to the chests you can almost smell the Shiverpeak
Pine they are made of. This is the path you now need to follow, and this
can be the tricky part.
There is a group of three Shiverpeak Warriors and one Shiverpeak
Bowmaster which, if you are doing this with a higher level character,
can be quickly slaughtered. Lower level characters can sprint/dodge past
and wait where the above image shows.
From here you have two options:
* The first option is to wait here for a few seconds, avoiding detection
by both groups of enemies. The Deserters will eventually be attacked by
Shiverpeak Warriors that are to the Southwest, and their focus will be
completely on them, at which point you can run and loot the chests with
nearly no fear of being attacked.
* Option two, and sometimes what is called "Plan B" (due to problems
that you can run into) is sometimes dangerous, but sometimes absolutely
necessary. You can lead the first group of Shiverpeak Warriors into the
group of Deserters and they will attack each other, leaving you free to
loot the chests unbothered. This may also become the only option when
you are detected by one group or the other and must flee or force them
to attack each other.
The reason that this is dangerous is that sometimes the group of
Shiverpeak Warriors will KILL the group of Deserters, and will COMPLETE
THE QUEST for you! This sucks, because now you can't farm these chests
anymore. If it looks like they are winning, it's probably a good idea to
map out of there. The same thing can happen if too many Shiverpeak start
attacking from the Southwest, but it is much more rare.
Here is a small idea of what you will be seeing while looting the chests
and the area where they are located at:
4. Step Five:
After you loot all those chests, run all the way back through those red
dots straight through the zone you just came in from. Rinse and repeat
as much as you would like. I like to take the time after zoning back
into the chest area to identify the loot from the previous run to see
what kind of upgrades I ended up with =]
Well, Good Luck and Godspeed, or whatever.
This has been resurrected from the nerf, due to Greybok's new
information. Please look below to find it!
Once upon a time the deserter chest run produced alot of blue, purple
and gold items from the 4 chests that appear after you take the
Deserters Quest in Beacons Perch. It was nerfed so the items dropped
were only whites. Well, there was a fifth chest during this mission, and
it was NOT part of the quest. So it is still there and drops anywhere
from 2-5 items, ranging from white, blue and purple. I also got one gold
in the 10 runs I did. The items are not max damage but do contain weapon
upgrades, so they can be valuable.
The easiest way to reach the area is first go to Beacons and get the
quest, then make your way to ice tooth caves. Exit the caves and let the
minotaurs kill you. You will spawn right beside the exit to Delmidor
Bowl. Take that exit and go to the right. Run past the monsters and run
along the right hillside, holding down the alt key to see the chest.
Open, get items and run back to the exit, go out and then back in. Here
are a couple pics.
